Whenever we participate in an unfamiliar worship service,
the knowledge that God has worshippers around the world praising him in many
different ways, and each of those ways is a sweet savor to him, overwhelms me. It truly does not matter how we worship; it
simply matters that we worship. Thinking of God smiling as He receives
different modes of praise fills me with awe.
I was so looking forward to seeing Erica (we built her house
last year) in church this morning , that when she wasn’t there, I was sorely
disappointed. She and her little ones
came in half way through the songs. Tears came to my eyes. Her look of
recognition and giant hug meant everything.
We returned to Antigua and the orphanage today. After
holding, singing to, and playing with the “babies” (babies is in parenthesis
because many of the tiny ones are actually teenagers) for an hour, several of
us went for a tour of the area for malnourished children. We saw beautiful babies
laughing as our host greeted them. Most had a severely cleft pallet. I’ve seen
pictures of this before, but none compared to what we saw. The good news is
most of these babies will recover after a surgery or two and be able to return
home and live a normal life. The nurses
loving and laughing with the babies was a heartwarming sight to see.
We finished our time with tourist shopping in Antigua.
Everyone had a good time, and many souvenirs were purchased, but I’ll tell you
those two hours are the most exhausting part of the trip!!
